I'm really bad in 'fandom'.

To be quite honest, I don't want to participate in talks about what a bad mother Molly Weasley is or is not, or fight over OTPs or pairings in general. I'm too lazy and tired to write long rants about how I think the fake feminism in Buffy is an insult to every woman or how Orli really is a man and not a girl (posted with lotsa pictures to prove my point).

I just want to read good fiction and maybe snark about bad fiction. Yeah. I like watching the movies or TV series and then have short discussions about them with my friends, preferably in private chats or face to face.

Being like totally involved and squee and whoo sounds too much like real work to me. I already have a job, I don't need my hobby to feel like that.

Yeah. I'll never be a BNF. But hey, why would I want to be?

*Runs screaming from BNFness* I never want to be one either. Doctor Who fandom, with its pits of extremist flaming hell, taught me to just keep it cool most of the time. I only do meta if the source material is meta (and I don't mean "transparent preaching of writer's own views/issues") to begin with.

Yeah, somehow the whole 'being in fandom' seems to attract weirdoes who will be happy to slap you silly and call you names.

I can get that treatment elsewhere if I need it. :D

I dunno, it depends a *lot* on the fandom. If it consists mainly of intellectual and mature women like B7 does, it's damn great. Sure, there are some shitty personalities and clashes there sometimes and the fetish for zine-only Old Skool badfic, but con after con I've been just gobsmacked at how lovely most B7 fans are. But then I do hang out with the slashers;).
