Because of the horror of LXG yesterday, spent a few hours watching BoB with ma.

I really don't know whether to smack [livejournal.com profile] mace_m or hug her for inflicting such obsession on poor innocents... There aren't many miniseries I can watch over and over again, but ever since seeing BoB the first time about six months ago, I've watched it five or six times from the beginning.

They're babbling on the news about lowering the alcohol tax. I don't really care about the older drunks. After living for a decade with a drunken person, I'm completely okay with seeing those people drink themselves to death. Too bad the tax thing also means that youngsters will be able to afford booze more easily from now on.

I'm not an economist, but wouldn't it be better to lower taxes on things like.... let's say food? Or books. Entertainment.

Well, personally, I think you should rather hug me than smack me, because a) hugging will hurt less and b) doesn't drooling after Winters/Nixon make you feel all fuzzy and blessed? At least it works (something) like that with me.

As for the taxes, I don't agree with the lowering liquor taxes either. I think nothing good will come of it, but I rather susptect that the poor souls at the Treasury couldn't come with anything else in order to stop all the alcohol tax euros going to Estonia now that our southern neighbours are joining the EU. Stupid, but practical.

*hug*

I do feel fuzzy and blessed! It's almost sickeningly sweet. Watched the first three eps with ma, and kept smiling at those two. They're not just in love. They're so married.

Well, at least now I can live in my own la la land where Nix and Winters got to be together forever.

I know the government kinda had to lower the taxes in order to keep the money from flowing abroad, but damn... It's just so weird that they can well calculate this kind of stuff, but they can't calculate the benefits of things like youth work or pre-emptive child care versus years of institutionalization and prison care.

But then again who ever accused the government of being smart?
