tvillingar and Elbereth, and then later on, we popped into the local DVD store with Tvilly.
Noticed a bunch of teenagers were staring at a collection of Star Wars DVDs.
The best (worst) bits of their conversation:
- OMG I love that dude whose name starts with a J. Whatshisface? You know, the kinda smart one... Um... Joy? No, Jou something. Jou-dah?
- OMG this was like the best of the movies! *points at Episode II the Attack of theClowns Clones*
- And OMG this guy is so damn hot! Like the hottest guy in all the movies! *points at Hayden Christensen*
Then later on, they spotted the latest SFX mag with Gollum on the cover. One promptly announced:
- They're like gonna make two movies outta the Hobbit! So lame! It's a silly kiddy book!
Me: DO NOT WANT!
What's happened to the gene pool? Diluted or something? I can't remember being such an idiot when I was a teenager... And if I was, please never remind me!
Today, watched the Stormbreaker, and am just gonna say that whoo! Now where's all that Alex/Yassen? Even with the silly hair, Damian Lewis rocks.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that their reaction to LotR (the book) most likely was "But omg, it's like a thousand pages long!". Grr.

Man, I don't really get these idiots. Like... Yeah, the world is kind of drowning in godsawful fantasy movies (OMG The Golden Compass!), but how can they not see good stuff when they see it? Also, who said all fantasy (or even the Hobbit) is for kids?

Date: 2008-07-17 08:45 pm (UTC)I had the exact same thought when I went home on the bus after we met, and it was crowded with about 10 teenagers on their way to a home party (kotibileet) and they were shouting indecencies to all the other passengers about their clothes, looks, etc. After a few beers, obviously...
