Oh hear ye, for I have been sent a vision by my Household Gods. I have seen the future, and the future is full of missing the point.

There shall be no noticing of moral dilemmas and real human emotion, there shall be no level headed discussion about 'what would you do if you had the knowledge and people would die'. There shall be no awe in the acting, nor any praise on Donna.

They shall see, but they shall only see yet another mention of Gallifrey, which is of course wrong 'cause the real doctors (anyone pre-Rusty, yes, probably even Paul McGann, who still doesn't count) ever talked about it so much. They shall bicker about the fact that She is Coming, the great flame wars raging even wilder than the Time War itself.

Blame will be set on Rusty, for every silly joke, for the blatant historical errors, for there is no way anyone can watch television without focusing on the bad. Screencaps about 'Jeebus!Doctor' will be posted everywhere, never mind the fact that the scene was full of awe.

*sigh*

I'd really like to be a part of the Doctor Who fandom, but I haven't found a place where one can just watch it and be happy. New school in fandom seems to be shipping and old school is about hating the new show, finding every bloody annoyance in good episodes and then mocking everyone who takes pleasure in watching them.

Here comes the actual spoilery part; the episode made me think about two moments already seen on film or telly

1. Nine telling Blon that this is the way murderers justify their existence. That every once in a while, they let someone go. They kill whomever they wish, and not killing someone when they could somehow makes them good. Season 1, Boomtown.

2. Gandalf to Frodo: Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them?

I know the Doctor isn't a killer, not like that, but due to Donna's logic, a very human logic, his actions are now somehow justified just because he saved a family.

Also, on the record: Donna rocks.

Am now looking forward to next week's episode. I like the Ood. They make me think of Davy Jones... Or Norrington the WereSquid...

All great inventions will eventually be used in less than admirable ways. That said, some people should never have learned to use computer.

SO sad but true. It's just.... I could understand a crusade against child pron or some other disgusting thing, but the rage and energy people have for some silly things like a telly show.... Just doesn't compute.
