Jun. 1st, 2003 01:15 amMet with some old friends of mine today. I've known these people since I was just a toddler. Over 24 years.
It was weird babbling with them. Because they were all talking about men and the problems with men. On how everyone in their worlds cheat each other. How they all cheat or have cheated their boyfriends.
I was shocked. I mean, okay, so if you're single, go ahead and shag anything that moves, but that kind of cold using of people, not even using them just for sex, but giving them hope and then leaving or cheating...
Sorry to be such a romantic fool, but I have never understood that. Either you are with someone or you're not. If you are, you do not cheat.
Also, the whole 'men are pigs' conversation was overwhelming. One of my friends broke up with her bf because he'd had some one night stands during the 6 or so years they'd been together. She dumped him, and acted like she'd been really hurt. But... This is the same friend of mine, who has actually dated other guys (so not just shagged them, but dated them as well) all the time she was with her bf.
So all men are pigs, right?
Damn, I was nauseated being with these people. It was as if I'd never really seen them before. At least not this side of them.
My track record with guys and girls is abysmal, so maybe I shouldn't be saying anything. But gods, I still believe in love and even if that's an illusion, there are things like respect and personal honor.
I do not get these people. Not at all.

Date: 2003-05-31 03:55 pm (UTC)Maybe I'm just too big a romantic, though. Not in a romcnce way, but in the good old 'everyone would really want to have someone and be even faithful to those they love' way.
Heh. So all the Emmanuelle movies I watched when I was in my teens didn't scar me for life after all.
