Lol! Well the thing is I am a book purist, I admit, and it is my favorite book, and Master my favorite writer. I have discussed, analyzed and read that book more than others put together for over 20 years now. I am not a fan of the movies due to it but when I can disassociate - which is impossible most of the time except when in company - the book from the movie, then I like them for their own merit. But I guess I am too steeped into everything LotR book-vise that the movie is not that great for me, on the contrary actually when it comes to context (disregard great visuals, good acting, amazing music etc).
I usually forget just how different the movies are from the books because the movies are actually well made, unlike some I could rant about. :D But I do see how the movies can be more than a little annoying for a book purist.
Watching the trilogy in the company of slashers is awesome. Have done that once, and the eating games (eat any time a hobbit mentions food!) and drinking games (drink any time Legolas says something bloody obvious) almost killed us. But it was fun.
Now I really wonder if I should go shopping for that damn watermelon...
Oh they are well made, indeed some others ... *shudders * ... and yes, I do actually watch them in the company of my slasher friends, when I do watch them - lol - well and lots of ice-cream and choc as well with us. Usually end up with a stomacache thanks to all the laughing and drooling. Mmmmm ...
And now I want to the damn watermelon ... *falls down laughing*

It's always a big project for me to watch LotR, not because of the length of the whole thing, but because it kinda makes me go all gaga.
