sua_layAm reading an SGA fic with lotsa stuff going on with Rodney's health.

dlasta for her comments while watching Reign of Fire! Now am wondering if Rodney would ask if he can give head to John while being captured by teh evil!aliens so that he won't go into a shock due to his hypoglycemia. All that protein and so forth.

Seriously, though, I have a wee problem with all these 'and then due to something, character A realized he'd been treating character B oh so wrong' -plotlines. Yup, the fic I'm reading is one of those. It used to happen a lot in Xfiles and with Xander/Spike and then in Snarry. I really feel it's a total copout even when a character really deserves to be treated better.
Seeing that someone really is a human is one thing. Coddling and praising is usually just damn annoying. Besides, it usually makes characters do stupid stuff...
"Oh Alex, you were so brave to work as a quadruple agent and stuff and never mind you killed my dad, I love you anyway."
"Oh Spike, you're so sexy and we treated you so wrong and never mind you almost raped Buffy and tried to kill us all lotsa times, I love you anyway."
"Oh Harry I never realized you were abused as a child. Let me bathe you and then coddle you and you can wear my green-and-silver jammies and call me Sevvie, 'cause I love you, you hero you!"
"Oh Severus, you were a hero all this time and I didn't know and *ignores latest canon and stuff* I love you and let's marry and I wanna have your babies and can you please bathe me more and can I call you Sevvie honey baby?"
"Oh Sam!"
