Pissing off everyone

These past few days, some people on my FL have recced the most hideous fics ever. From House to Harry Potter, it seems everyone is going all yay about stuff I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.
What is it that makes people go this crazy? Is the quality of fic so low that anything over 10 k with people who sound kinda familiar and some sex is a 'good fic'?
Yeah, I'm a total snob with fic. And no, I'm no Shakespeare myself. But come on people....
What makes a fic bad?
- lots of stupid mistakes ('Snape taped his fingers against the armrest' being my absolute favorite!)
- no beta/spellchecker/posted five minutes after finishing. Everyone makes mistakes! And no, don't use your nicest and bestest friend as your only beta unless they're willing to tell you your fic may suck!
- OOCness (why does every snarky character turn into total mush in fics?)
- the lack of logic and/or canon stuff (if you write stupid fics, you insult my intelligence)
- bad sex (if you don't know how to write it well, make it a PG fic)
- there is a reason for the saying 'artsy fartsy'...
- she's a female character, so she must be a total bitch! (yes, we all know how people hate Scully, Hermione, Buffy, B'Elanna, Arwen, Galadriel, Fred... Wait! I understand the last one, but...)
- he's a friend in canon, but since I'm too lazy/stupid/asleep to actually think of a plot, I'll just make him the baddie! (I read one more fic where Ron and the other guys find out Harry's gay and rape him and I'm going to shoot someone)
- boys act just like girls when they're in love, right? Even if they're over fifty. Yeah? (insert a rant about any male character here. Two points if it's someone like Gil Grissom)
- hey, it's a plotfic! See my shiny plot! Ooo! Now the guys are fucking! See the plot fly out of the window! But the guys are still fucking, so yay!
- author's bloated head. The fact that you have lots of minions/readers/awards doesn't mean you're a good author. It doesn't make everything you write good. (gags herself so that she doesn't start a flame war here)

It's just different to come out and say that the crap is good and rec it.

Go read Michi Chu`s or Penelope-Z`s ones, they`re far better than the average HP-fic. Although they`re creepy.
Sometimes a girl just needs a long smutty Snarry to help her through a cold and boring night, and mistakes become tolerable. After all, there is so much badfic in HP that endless patience is needed from any fic-reader.no subject
