Feb. 1st, 2005 01:17 amSo it's February.
Watched the Blair Witch Project with a friend. It wasn't a total waste of time, but mostly because her meeps and squeeing kept me entertained. Horror or artsy horror isn't really my genre.
Watched some CSI last night and decided to let go of my firm belief that it should be Gil/Nick forever (because godsdamn it! One readable fic in that pairing. ONE!) and go look for Greg/Nick or maybe even Gil/Greg.
The result: When Nick isn't a total headcase who needs coddling and/or washing from Gil (who calls him baby honey love of course), he's a caretaking and very nurturing guy who just loves his (baby honey love) Greg, who has a past. After reading the Greg used to be a methhead -plotline and the Greg was raped -plotline and even stumbled onto the EvilSlut!Greg, I'm seriously thinking about stop reading CSI slash.
The Yahoo!Group in that fandom is even worse than the LJ communities where idiots praise those who are barely literate and sprout out crap every five days. Groups I've seen are dominated by a few people who write a lot, but never anything I'd call good or literature.
*is being totally snobby again*
I'm really bugged by the fact that cops/criminalistics/whatnots always have to have some high drama in their lives. CSI, CSIM and Navy NCIS slash fandoms have hundreds of stories where the guys are all headcases, rape victims, total softies and neglect duty to have a quickie in a broom closet.
No other fandom is so obsessed with the hurt part of the H/C. Unless you cast a look at the good old Sentinel, but we shouldn't go into that right now.
I can't really remember why I started ranting, but I feel so much better now that I've got this off my chest. Should probably try to read that horrible HL mpreg
mace_m recced (well, anti-recced) and then do something intelligent. At this point anything but reading would probably count as such.
It's going to be March soon...

Date: 2005-01-31 03:46 pm (UTC)Er... Okay. No more ranting.
Shall definitely head north one of these days. After my last vacation I'll just hole up at home for a while, though. My head can't take people right now...
*growl*
B5! I should probably watch through that next so that I'll be totally inspired and scribble something!
*goes back to watch West Wing or Xena*
Heh...
