Jul. 30th, 2004 10:01 pmWhat a complete waste of a perfectly good evening.
Had a fun day with
dlasta, watching Sir Ian on SNL (I just totally adore that man!) and shopping. Went to Lautanen for late lunch/early dinner. The food was great. Will definitely recommend to anyone! Try the garlic chicken.
Then had to go for a few pints with my colleagues. Being a total idiot, I'd agreed to this weeks ago. What better way to spend a day off than to go drinking with people you see every day at work....
The beer was cold and good and it was kind of nice to babble with everyone for like half an hour. Then we went to a karaoke bar and what had been a moderately tolerable evening turned into an endless annoyance.
Yes, they had different parts of the bar assigned for those who smoke and those who don't. The whole place was still smokey. I had to leave my coat and pay €1.50 for the doorman for it. Bloody robbery! Was annoyed because not everyone had to leave their coats. Bastards! Will definitely never go to Pataässä again!
I'm not a big fan of karaoke places, since I hate listening people sing wrong. Am not the greatest singer myself, but I can recognize when people can't sing. Of course I couldn't even hear everyone who was singing since people made such noise anyway.
So there I was, telling my colleagues that due to a very traumatic experience in the past, I don't sing karaoke. I listened to the others sing, wondering what the hell was I doing out there. Good old 'get slightly drunk and you get a free depression! yay!' tried to sneak in, but was fortunate to avoid it this time. Was mostly annoyed at the whole coat business.
It was weird, 'cause my colleagues are nice and so on, but I would have rather stayed home reading slash. Or maybe gone to the gym. Or something. I'm not very keen on spending my evenings out with people. Unless they're slashers.
Blaah.
Will have the morning shift tomorrow. Gods, I just hate my life right now.
