Jul. 24th, 2004 04:09 pmThe slash meme nicked from
snowgrouse. Read it an weep.
First Slash Pairing: The first pairing I ever read was... Picard/Q. Or maybe Picard/Q/Vampire Lestat. Yes. I'm one of those people who stumbled into slash as 'OMGs what the hell is this? Must read and be weirded'. The first pairing I ever read of was Garak/Bashir.
Condoms in fanfiction, yes or no? Depends on the fandom. If it's probable that there will be no STDs or other icky results from the shagging (like Snape made such a potion that blah blah, various sci-fi or fantasy fandoms), then no. If it's contemporary stuff, especially with first times, then hell yes.
Positions: Whatever works with the author's writing style and the pairing.
Twosomes, threesomes, moresomes: Depends on the pairing/s. If it's well written, then I can read. If it's a long silly fic that ignores stuff like personalities and jealousy, then ew.
Orgasms: simultaneous, bottom first, top first? Am not a great fan of cliched, so if it's simultaneous, then at least please not the whole 'they came together because their love was so pure and meant to be that anything less would had made angels cry'. Other than that, whatever.
Vampires: well-endowed, average, or petite? Wouldn't that depend on the vampire? Am not a great fan of 'he dropped his pants and everyone was in awe of his huge erection' either. Don't need the measurements to read good fic.
Force, necessary, enjoyable, or disgusting: Could this meme be any more foolish? I should have copy pasted the 'whatever fits the fandom, pairing and the mood of the story' here.
I have nothing against using force in the sex scenes, but people often forget the fact that not everyone wants hardcore games in bedroom. Or on the kitchen table. Or wherever. Also, using force as a game is one thing. Forcing someone is rape. Wish people remembered that and used warnings.
Biting: Yadda yadda, depends on whom blah blah. Stupid if used too much. Very erotic if it's once or twice as a claiming or whatever.
Love: necessary, possible, gets in the way? I'm such a big sap, so yes. If there are more than one pairing in the fic, then at least the main pairing should be a love affair, the others can vary.
Lube: Only idiots write no-lube fics. Except if they're heavily violent rape fics.
Masturbation: Once again, if it fits the story. I'm not into short fics where X wanks and dreams of whomever, but if such a scene is a part of a longer fic where X actually gets to fullfill his fantasy later on, then fine. Also, depending on the pairing, mutual masturbation can be fun to read.
Blowjobs: first times, experts, whores, no need to breathe? Picking off lint from the erection and trying very hard not to bite. :D First timers can't be experts, so it always makes me all blaah if a novice (especially if he's a teenager) sucks like a pro.
Semen: Am not too happy about the copious amount of it described in porny fashion, but since it's a biological fact that two men orgasming produces an amount of it, would be silly to ignore it, now wouldn't it?
You Like Your Men: Gay, bi, vampsexual, or straight but into one guy? I don't really care. I like following canon here. Snape can be gay, since we haven't seen him with a woman. Harry would probably be bi, since he's had a crush on a girl. The straight and into one guy... Sorry, just can't see that happen really. With a few exceptions, like Starsky and Hutch. :D
Relationship status: I usually read only first times. All I write contains first times. So can you guess?
Once again have to say that if the story is long and has multiple pairings, all of them can't be romantic first times. It's just stupid!
Roles: Oh good gods. Follow canon.
Favorite slash pairing: Don't really have one. Have lots of OTPs in various fandoms. Right now, writing: Harry/Snape, reading: FPS can't really say, RPS Monaboyd.
Most Slashable Character: Snape.
Least Slashable Character: Aragorn. Er... Well, usually that is. I do seem to have a weakness for Aragorn/Faramir, but let's not talk about that. I do believe all characters can be slashed with someone, if the author is good.
Best Fic Genre: Long first time fics that stay in character.
Worst Fic Genre: Uberfluff. All characters sounding the same as they all love their dear sweethearts and fluffy lovebunnies so much. Good adult characters acting like teenagers and sugar overdose.
Most Over-Used Fic Genre: I should write a list... Mary Sueism, usually in a songfic. Female character bashing that makes the author seem like a homicidal maniac. Fluffy fic with porny sex scenes. Making everyone a vampire (ew). Crossovers that will never ever work (can we say BtVS/HarryPotter?)
Am now bored. Somebody help meh!

Date: 2004-07-24 12:43 pm (UTC)Have you ever dared to glance at the massive Harlequin romance/bad porn saga that is Careless Whispers (http://www.liberated.org.uk/1051careless1.htm)? I don't know whether to laugh or cry...
