sua_layI was asked about the term 'strange slasher noises'. Here's my definition of the term.
'Strange slasher noises'
usually in this order:
Start by watching a slashy movie or series (recommended: SGA, Supernatural, Sentinel, Highlander, SG-1 (the Jack/Danny era), LotR, Harry Potter, Lost, Fast and the Furious, anything with Paul Walker, Due South, cop shows, sci-fi shows, action movies, the evening news, sports, anything with men, guys, boys, people, animated characters, puppets, robots etc.)
1. *gasp* (an intake of breath as you see something slashy)
2. either choking (in case you had something in your mouth) or hyperventilating.
3. if in a group of other slashers, frantic gesturing. If alone, restless movement while making a tiny *meep* or *squee* sound.
4. a full blown "OMG!" or "OMGs!", followed by flapping of hands (the chicken wing effect), or a heartfelt "Fuck!" if the scene is especially slashy (i.e. not just the usual backslap/headslap/glare but actual hug/comfort/physical closeness/"I was wrong."/"I believe you." etc.).
5. more gasping, while reaching out for the remote control to rewind.
6. *squee* *meep* *eep* *squee* *breathe* *meep*
7. howling, whistling, "OMG!" or "OMGs!" Then some rolling around the couch/bed/floor.
8. if alone: reach for the keyboard/cell phone so you can share the meep. If in a group: poke at the slasher next to you and do the "Did you fucking see that?" followed by more *squee*
9. *pathetic whingeing*
10. a happy "That was so cute!" or "Fucking hot!"
Of course you can also do the 'strange slasher noises' thing while reading a book and/or a fic, but then it'll be slightly more personal, involving more imagination. Go and check the thesaurus, I believe the word is 'wank'.
