Am watching NCIS 3x01 and once again am baffled by the sheer stupidity of the whole dealing with death thing.

No, not the grieving and the vengeance.

Are coroners really allowed to perform autopsies to people they've worked with? People they know? There was Alexx talking to Speedle while she cut him open and now Ducky's working on Kate.

I just find it inconceivable, just like the fic way of colleagues doing the rape kits and other exams. It feels too personal, too invasive and too traumatic.

Does this really happen in real life?
