Here's part one of your b-day pressie,
Warning! Angst! Kinda dark!

After the accident, the doctors told John he might never regain his memory.
He was allowed back on duty, for there were some things he simply knew; how to shoot and hit the target, how to guard their city. He also knew he hated being called Johnny, but never mentioned that to his CO, working hard to get back to his position at commander Kolya’s side.
In dreams, he sometimes flew over water with the sun shining brightly overhead. Waking up to the darkness in his bunker, his lips sometimes formed a name.
“Rodney!”
But it was only a dream.
