Ooookay...

The Silver Snitch archive has a genre called 'OOCness'. As I'm browsing through the snarry section, I'm seeing that description in lots of stories.

Why? How? I mean... why????

I don't want to read a totally OOC Harry or Snape. It won't be Harry or Snape if the author's just grabbed the name and ran. Is this the most difficult consept to grasp? Or am I just insane?

8 years in the fandom and you still wonder about things?

I`m so ****ing doomed.

Actually, OOC could be IC and vice versa, if it`s explained decently. In fact, IMO, most of SS/HP is OOC, anyway. In my wildest dreams, I cannot see Harry mooning over Snape or Snape telling Harry to leave him for some time growing up and stuff *insert long-ish rant*.

But just putting "OOC" in top of the fic? Lazy, lazy, lazy.

And here I thought that all fiction posted at SilverSnitch was OOC anyway!

Ooh! Snarky!

*shivers*

And yeah. Tried to read some fic there. Then had to leave because I was getting nauseous.

Yeah, I must be an eternal optimist or something, always hoping for the best and then going all gaaaaaaaaaaah...

Poor doomed Sookail! *pets*

I totally agree! Almost anything can be IC if it's explained well. The problem is, usually the explanation for Snape being all mushy and lovey dovey is the good old 'no one ever loved him before and now that someone does, he becomes a nice nice man'. Which is total crap. The reaction wouldn't be weeping and chocolate and mush, it'd be suspicion and sarcasm.

The only way to have Snape be IC and fluffy is to have someone charm him or hit him in the head with a bludger...

I really don't see Snape (or Harry) sending each other away after they've got to the point where they recognize their love. Both seem lonely and needy and there is no way in hell they'd chance the other one leaving. Also, my opinion is that they're both broken. People like that don't make 'good' relationship decisions.

*rants*

Will now go and write some Snarry. Since I'm inspired and everything...
