West Wing (SPOILERS)
Sep. 28th, 2003 09:54 pmWatched the West Wing season opener. Am not really certain of what I think about the whole thing. Was afraid it would be total crap, considering the topic.
But it wasn't crap. It was... Intriguing.
I liked the way they used lighting in the episode. Everything was dark. Lots of shadows on people. It fit the atmosphere perfectly. Also, I loved all the anger that was overshadowing the pain. The Bartlet women were excellent. Loved the quiet sadness Toby projected. I have always liked Charlie, but I think I'll have to start using the other L-word now.
Will definitely be all excited in a week. I can't think of a way they're going to resolve this, and that's a good thing. I hate it when tv shows are obvious.
Also! Even though the ending was so intentionally emotional, I liked it. I like it when they show things instead of explaining. TWW has a great way of using music, and was thrilled to hear one of my fav songs ever, Lisa Gerrard's Sanvean. I think the previous tearjerker scenes were also well done (mainly the Two Cathedral scene with Brothers in Arms and Posse Comitatus with Hallelujah).
mace_m! Thank you for the advice. hug
About real life... Saw Maria today. Neither of us was in the mood, but we still went to the gym. Was proud of us both. We had a deal with Mia that we'd meet today, but she wasn't answering her phone when I called. Oh well. Will try to call her tomorrow again.
Tomorrow will be a busy day. I hope I'll manage to get some sleep tonight (since I slept for like fourteen hours last night).
