Aug. 7th, 2002 09:34 amBeen reading books lately. I used to read a book a day when I was a kid --before finding slash. Have spent a ridiculous amount of money on books too. Not to say we have a lousy library system here. I think Finnish libraries are great. I just loved owning the books so that I could read them over and over again whenever I wanted to.
Read that Auel book, and it was okay. Not a literary masterpiece, but it was fairly entertaining. Now I'm reading 'Regina's song' by David and Leigh Eddings. It's been some time since their last book and I'm enjoying myself immensely.
I love their fantasy books, but I also love the non fantasy. Their style is easy to read, and sometimes that makes people to sneer at them. Yes, I'm talking about all those who are blinded by papa Tolkien's 'marvelous' style. The fact that one doesn't write high fantasy with all the pomp doesn't mean one's a bad writer.
Sorry. This is a pet peeve of mine...
