I seem to be the biggest memewhore around here. Oh well... At least this one's actually intelligent, a thing about literature.

--Hardback or paperback?
Hardback! I usually read the same books over and over again so many times, the paperbacks literally fall apart.

--Highlight or underline?
Underline. And that only to textbooks! No scribbling on fiction.

--Lewis or Tolkien?
Tolkien. I am not comfortable with Lewis' Christian stuff. Not that I say that Tolkien's perfect either, but...

--E.B. White or A.A. Milne?
A.A. Milne. I can deal with WtP stuff if it's the book and not the Disney thing!

--T.S. Eliot or e.e. cummings?
Have never read Cummings, so would have to sat Eliot.

--Stephen King or Dean Koontz?
King. He does have some problems with some of his books, but I still like the ones I've read.

--Barnes & Noble or Borders?
B&N online, Borders when I visit London. Good grief! I could spend hours and hours in there!

--Waldenbooks or B. Dalton?
Whatever.

--Fantasy or science fiction?
I'm really picky with both... But I do like fantasy as a genre better.

--Horror or suspense?
Suspense.

--Bookmark or dogear?
Bookmark! It can be a whatever piece of paper for all I care. I absolutely hate it when someone borrows a book from me and gives it back dogeared!

--Hemingway or Faulkner?
I really adore the melancholy in Hemingway's stuff. Can't remember ever reading Faulkner... Not a part of my country's 'must read' list...

--Pen or pencil?
Both are fine.

--Looseleaf or notepad?
Whenever I need to scribble down notes, any form of paper is fine.

--Alphabetize:
Yes. By author, then by title or part of the series. I have been ridiculed because of this, but my fiction library contains around 300 volumes, and if I didn't alphabetize, I'd never find anything. And yes, I alphabetize my DVDs as well. Sue me.

--Dustjacket:
Is a pretty thing, but I always remove it when I read the book or loan it to others.

--Novella or epic?
Epic, please. I want to spend a long time with my characters...

--John Grisham or Scott Turow?
Have only read Grisham, and wasn't too yay about all his stuff.

--J.K. Rowling or Lemony Snicket?
Gah. Only read Rowling, but good grief. Can we say there's one overpraised author? She's like a BNF with blind minions.

--John Irving or John Updike?
Irving.

--Fiction or non-fiction?
Fiction.

--Historical biography or historical romance?
I'd say both. I like it when the biography is not dull, but not overly hip either.

--A few pages per sitting or finish at least a chapter?
LOL Finish the whole book when I start reading.

--Short story or creative non-fiction essay?
Short story.

--"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?
The former gives me nice shivers. Gimme angst!

--Buy or borrow?
I like owning the books, 'cause I usually read the same books lotsa times.

--Book reviews or word of mouth?
Both.

Well, that was fun.
