Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse's rambling, I just found out that they're making a miniseries of Earthsea. By the look of it, it's from the first two books, and probably somehow focuses on the whatever romance thing between Ged and Tenar.

Would probably just be a bit disgusted if they didn't have Kristin Kreuk as Tenar. That woman fucked up Smallville, so she will probably fuck this up as well.

I really hate this! Because unlike most action packed fantasy stories, the Earthsea books have always been about subtle inner growth and acceptance. The journey isn't to become a great hero or a great mage, but to become a real person. I can't see them actually focusing on the relevant things.

What happened with LotR won't probably happen again. Will any other moviemaker than PJ actually work on a project out of love for the tale? I fear not. That's why I wish they didn't go with the whole 'oo fantasy sells!' trend and kept away from good books! Cheap pseudo philosophical movies will only ruin the whole genre.

Am totally disgusted and annoyed right now.

And I want to go on a bloody rampage. I wonder what the fuck LeGuin is thinking at the moment. This thing is going to suck so much.

So, they are really making it? I heard about that a while ago on LeGuin's website but she didn't seem to be too sure if it will ever be made because several Earthsea movie projects have already died. Too bad if this one will actually happen. I could imagine an Earthsea movie/series done well, but I doubt this will be it. Also, the end of the second book is a weird point to end it. (Plus, no Lebannen/Ged?)

sigh A long, subtle TV series woulda been the best I think. Without Kreuk!

Also, I would love to read a good, long Lebannen/Ged. Maybe Ged doesn't like it back home, or Lebannen needs him at the court or...

I'll just shut up now...

Yup. That was my first reaction too. Also, Ged will be played by the guy playing Bobby (Iceman) in X-men, and even though he did fit that part well, I can's see someone so cute playing Ged. He's young and reckless in the first book, but grows to be this quiet man who should ooze quiet serenity.

(am not even saying that I'd love to see Damian Lewis play older Ged. No, am not even hinting anything like that!]

I've been trying to find some Earthsea fic but there are about 5 stories on the Internet. I once read a short, very PG Lebannen/Ged which was good but I'd also love a good, long fic that would preferably eventually lead to smut. Beacause the third book kind of begs for that, right?

Once you've done with your Harry/Snape (which I can't wait to read, by the way), how about Lebannen/Ged? *winkwinknudgenudge* I'd love to try it myself, but I can't write anything long.

LOL You mean you're willing to wait for 10 years or so for the fic?

And gods yes, that book begs to be slashed. Anything from sappy emotional crap to smut! Maybe someone at some bookslash community would write us something...

Well, a fic in 10 years would be better than no fic at all :)

I really can't believe there's no Earthsea slash. After finishing the trilogy I was all "And now the slash!" and making gimme hands -- and then found out that there really isn't basically any fic at all. The LJ Earthsea community is also really boring which is a shame.

Hmmm.... Now I'm tempted to re read the damn book again... But should resist! Every stupid idea I ever have turns into a bad ficlet!
